epic v9 surfski

We are pretty revved up for this new boat from Epic Kayaks the V9 Surfski. San Francisco Bay has a jekyl and hyde paddling persona but this just may be the best boat to tame the beast.

To be honest Epic let us know a bit before hand the boat was on the way so we have been chomping at the bit to tell you about it. We haven't paddled the boat yet but the design brief is exactly what we have been asking for. The Swiss Army knife of surfski's.

The boat should do well in the choppier waters of San Francisco Bay. Epic Increased the rocker which should help the boat go into mountain bike mode when the bumps get bumpy. While normally increased rocker slows a boat down the team at Epic narrowed the widest point to offset that. That means the boat should be a little faster than the V8 pro. The question will be the tradeoff in stability but according to early reports this boat lets you have your cake and eat it too.
